The idea was simply to let the people know that all the bad things are successfully taking place because the people themselves refuse to intervene and help a fellow citizen from any kind of trouble. In this case, it's a mugging.
The biggest challenge was to find a location that looks deserted in the foreground and populated in the background. Luckily, my closest cousins live in a bungalow situated in the place which I was looking for. They were readily on board to let me film this video on their premises. In fact, one those cousins is playing the character of the mugger in the video.
The biggest challenge was to choose a soundtrack which would convey the feel of a slow burn building towards a tone which makes you feel, anxious, sad, determined and angry all at the same time.
Unfortunately, since I edited this video way back in 2010, I can't recall the name of this incredible track.
The message is bursting with a call to action feel due to the intense music coupled with the standout shot which is a close up of the mugger and a mid shot of the passing by citizen.
If only I would have made this video after becoming experienced with better cinematography and directorial sense, then the final impact of the message would have packed the biggest punch in my portfolio for the audience to experience.
If you shot some footage and need someone to edit the video, I would love to jump on baord and collaborate with you. Have a look at my other works to see my style and experience which I build over the years.
Let me know in the comments how you think I could have made this video much better and much more engaging?
I would really appreciate some constructive criticism in order to become a much better filmmaker and a much better storyteller.
